In memoriam. Physician, teacher, institutional founder, and one of the people whose work helped shape the professional infrastructure of modern naturopathic medicine.

Clinical Life

More than forty years of caring for patients

Dr. Sensenig practiced naturopathic medicine for over forty years and was known for helping thousands of people regain their health.

His clinical work ranged widely, with particular attention to digestive disease, headaches and migraine, joint and muscle complaints, chronic fatigue, and children’s health concerns ranging from asthma and eczema to developmental delays and autism.

Professional Leadership

A founder of organizations the profession still depends on

Dr. Sensenig was the founding President of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, chaired its Government Affairs Committee for a decade, and became the founding Dean of the College of Naturopathic Medicine at the University of Bridgeport.

He was also instrumental in the creation of the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education, the Institute for Natural Medicine, and the Naturopathic Medicine Institute.

Wider Influence

Consulting, teaching, and public service

He consulted for government agencies, insurance companies, colleges, and natural products companies.

He also taught at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona and at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine.
